. Remove the cap from the contrastamT whitening syringe and attach the mixing tip by aligning the markings and rotating the tip a quarter turn clockwise.
. Express approximately .5 ml of gel into a dappin dish or onto a mixing pad and apply 1-2 mm thick to the facial area of the teeth with the supplied brush.
. Allow the gel to remain on the teeth for a full 20 minutes, including the cure time.
. Activate the gel with your light source of choice. Please take care and follow any isolation or curing instructions specific to the light source. Please contact the light manufacturer or Spectrum Dental, Inc., if you have any questions as to the protocol.
Hilux Brite BiteT system - With crystal attachment, allow for 10 minutes of light exposure. Turn off the light at 10 minutes and allow the gel to remain on the teeth for the remaining 10 minutes of each 20 minute cycle.
Power PAC - 5 seconds per 2 teeth, moving across the arch. Three passes across the arch for a total curing time of 15 seconds per tooth.
PAC Light and High Intensity Curing Light - 10 seconds per tooth, moving across the arch. Three passes for a total curing time of 30 seconds per tooth.
Argon Laser - A single pass at 30 seconds per tooth, moving across the arch.
| Note: Be sure the red cone shield, provided with the PAC Light unit, is properly placed. If the shield should slide down the tip, the teeth will experience excessive exposure resulting in patient discomfort and sensitivity. The shield also allows for two teeth to be cured simultaneously, reducing total curing time. |
. Remove the gel with suction and wipe the area clean with a damp 2" x 2" gauze square. Do not rinse. Use of irrigation my cause the dam to come loose and will saturate the tooth structure. It is best to keep the area dry and allow the teeth to become dehydrated, to better absorb the whitening gel.
| Note: Take care to avoid contact of the bleaching gel with the patients exposed soft tissue. If contact occurs, immediately remove the whitening gel from the contact area on the soft tissue and apply Vitamin E Oil, this will help relieve patient discomfort. If the contact is between applications of gel, flush the area with water prior to applying the Vitamin E Oil. |
. Check the FastDamT application to confirm placement was not disturbed during the removal of the gel application.
. Repeat the whitening gel application twice, for a total of three 20 minute sessions (total of 1 hour of application time).
. Once the treatment is complete and the gel has been suctioned and wiped from the teeth, use a scaler or curette to lift from the edge of the FastDamT application. The polymerized material should lift off in one complete unit.
. With the retractor still in place, thoroughly rinse/suction the teeth. |
