. Dry the gingiva prior to application of FastDamT.
. Remove cap and attach the tip. Apply the FastDamT material to the patient's soft tissue on the labial and facial surfaces. It is best to apply the material at least one full quadrant at a time. Manipulate the FastDamT for complete coverage at the gingival margin and papilla. |
| Applying FastDamT |
Extend the material 4-5 mm from the margin, sealing it to the gauze, so that the soft tissue next to the surface area to be whitened is completely protected. Be sure to check the interproximal areas on your blind side where tissue exposure is most common and contact with the whitening gel can occur.
. Once FastDamT has been properly placed, light-cure the material with a standard halogen curing light or LED. Continuously move the wand in a sweeping motion across the arch for 10 seconds, remaining in an individual area for no more than 2 seconds. Depending on the thickness of the application, it may be necessary to allow for a brief cooling period of 10 seconds before a second curing pass of 10 seconds is performed.
. Test the material for hardness by applying light pressure with the tip of the FastDamT syringe to confirm that the application has cured into a firm protective layer. Even when polymerized, the FastDamT Soft Tissue Isolation material will exhibit a wet, shiny surface oxidation layer. When the application is complete, the FastDamT material should be sealed against the enamel.
